The Best Colours To Wear This Spring For An Energy Boost

The Best Colours To Wear This Spring For An Energy Boost

After a long few months of dark jumpers and grey skies, spring is the perfect time to bring a little more colour back into your wardrobe, and to boost your mood too.

At Tamarisk we believe colour doesn’t just change how an outfit looks, it changes how you feel wearing it.

Over 18 years of owning a boutique, I’ve seen it happen again and again. A woman tries on a colour she’d normally avoid and suddenly her whole face lights up.

Not because she’s “following fashion”.
Because she feels brighter. More confident. More like herself.

Why Colour Can Boost Your Mood

There’s a reason people talk about “dopamine dressing”.

The colours we wear can affect our energy, confidence and even the way we carry ourselves. And spring is the perfect season to have a little fun with it.

You don’t need to dress head-to-toe in neon pink to embrace colour either. Sometimes a colourful knit, scarf, handbag or printed blouse is enough to lift an entire outfit.

The Best Mood-Boosting Colours for Spring

Bright Blue

Fresh, uplifting and surprisingly easy to wear.

Blue works beautifully with denim, white trousers, neutral layers and metallic accessories. It adds brightness without feeling overpowering.

Perfect if you usually stick to black or navy but want to branch out a little.

Red

If you want to feel instantly more confident, red is hard to beat.

Whether it’s a red knit, dress, handbag or lipstick, this colour brings energy and warmth to your wardrobe.

Even a small pop of red can completely wake up a neutral outfit.

Pink

Pink has come a long way from sugary sweet stereotypes.

This spring, softer pinks and vibrant fuchsias both feel modern, joyful and flattering. Pink also works beautifully mixed with denim, (in fact, all blues) khaki, orange and red.

A pink shirt with jeans? Such an easy win.

Green

Fresh greens always feel right in spring.

From soft sage to brighter grass green shades, this colour has a calm but uplifting feel that suits so many skin tones.

It’s especially lovely if you want colour that still feels relaxed and wearable.

Orange and Coral

These warm tones bring instant sunshine to an outfit.

Coral is particularly flattering on many women over 40 because it adds warmth to the complexion and creates that healthy, glowing look.

Think holiday energy, even if you’re only going to Tesco.

Nervous About Wearing More Colour?

Start small.

You don’t have to suddenly become “the colourful woman” overnight.

Try:

  • A brighter top with your usual jeans
  • A colourful trainer or handbag
  • Layering colour under a neutral jacket
  • Printed accessories
  • Jewellery with colourful stones or beads

Confidence with colour grows gradually, and it should feel fun, not intimidating.

Wear What Makes You Feel Good

That’s always the most important thing.

Fashion trends come and go, but clothes that make you feel energised, confident and happy are never a bad idea.

And spring is the perfect excuse to bring a little more joy back into getting dressed.
